Returning to Suffolk - Peanut Capital of the World
You may catch a pleasant whiff of peanuts as you pass Suffolk, on highway 58. That's because it's the home of Planters Peanuts and the peanut capital of the world.
Suffolk County is still mostly rural and is dotted with peanut and cotton farms. However, recently farmland has been replaced with suburban housing at a rapid rate. The brackish Nansemond River meanders through the county and adds fishery to the area's industry and recreation, as well as breathtaking views.
The people of Suffolk are truly invested in the success of the community. Coming back to Suffolk for the third time, I was so inspired to paint the beautiful views, and as always in Virginia, meet wonderful and kind people.
